Its a funny thing when you invest a lot of time to a forum that you religiously post to; You become attached. After reaching Senior Member status and having two forum topics as stickies, I believe there is responsablilty to the n00bs out there to help them out as the Addicts and Seniors before did for me when I was a n00b.

Anyways, before I start coming off sappy, I just wanted to announce my return to afterdawn (not that anyone missed me). I don't think I have made a post to this forum in about 2-3 months, but a lot has happened since then. As some of you may have known already, but I have gotten engaged and the wedding date is nearing and my fiance and I have been hammered by arrangements. If any of you out there that has or is planning a wedding know how much time that takes. Also, I am also in the middle of buying a house and it looks like escrow will finally end by the beginning of last week.

So between spending my weekends, looking at homes, meeting with the realtor, and looking for furniture and my weekdays working, meeting with the lendor and doing wedding arrangments, I have been an [bold]extremely[/bold] busy person. So hopefully, I will be back contributing to this site once again at at least half as much as I did before.

I am not done, with both the wedding and home buying, but the worst of it is done. so again I wanted to say sorry that I left!

w/b btw... even though i don't remember your name...

and a wedding....... time and cost.... it all depends on how extravagant you want it..

home buying too, took me 6 months to find and buy my home.
and 4 weeks planning marriage and wedding..

    Thanks man,
Home buying is the worst part. I live in Orange County, California where buying a house is ridiculous. I mean 1-2 bedroom Condos go for $350,000 minimum. It is scary down here. Anyways I found a place and so far so good with escrow.

Don't even remind me. I had to cancel a trip to Las Vegas because of my lack of time.

here where i live... south central texas, you can buy a 2500 sqft home for about $175k
mine is not that big, i pay about 800 a month with escrow in it and insurance..
btw, when you get married, i want cake !!!

    wedding cake is my favorite..
best of luck to you and your better half !!

$175k won't get me anything within 200 miles from me. Im getting a 900 sgft condo for $350k, but that is EXTRMELY good for the OC. Mortgage is going to be about $2100 a month. $850 won't even get me a 1 bedroom apartment here in orange county or Los Angeles county.

Condos across the street from me are selling for about $400k and up. I was lucky to get in a situtaion where the seller needed to get out quick and was WAY under valuing his home in order to avoid 2 mortgage payments. we got lucky.

Thanks Again. Wedding cakes arn't my favorite though, that is why it is hard for me to want to spend $800 for a cake that I am only going to take a bite out of because it is going to by my wedding.

We are going to have a big wedding with a guest count at about 300 and both of our families want it to be a big fancy wedding. That is why it is taking a lot of our time.

    Hey Saugmon,
    Long time, no read!
yeah, taking the plunge, but she is a cool chick that knows I spend a lot of time on these forums. But I always tell her, if it wasn't for afterdawn she woundn't be playing mame or nes games with the xbox or I wouldnt have such high quality dvd backups that her little cousins can destroy. This place has done me a lot of good.

so you are a cake person too, huh. Im not big on sweets, but I cant wait for the Steak with red wine sauce that we ordered for the wedding. we had some during a tasting and it was damn good!

I hear ya about home prices. I live just north of you, in LA. (San Fernando Valley to be specific.) I currently just rent an apartment, but the 2000 sq ft. house my parents bought in 1978 for $74k is now valued at $720k! Its crazy! I am never buying a house until prices in our area drop...its outrageous! You could probably buy a mansion with 50 acres of property in the south somewhere for these prices!

haha where I live $750K will buy you a 8000 sq ft home on 30 acres of land. but this is Indiana, and we do 2 things here and we do them very well, corn and weed.

oh and keep the cake, i want a handful of those little wedding mints, and a few drunken bridesmaids.

    Thanks for the love people.

Looks like it the same ol gang. Good to see.

No mints, but there will be a chocolate fountain (even though Im not a chocolate guy), but I think we are going to have those jordan Almonds though.

    @djscoop:
I read in the register a couple of weeks ago that the median Condo price in Orange County is $600K. That is nuts. and the median price for a home is something near $900K. Although I think that number is inflated due to south orange county area (Irvine, Newport, Laguna). Im in North OC. Im about 10min from Disneyland.

what up Geestar20, long time, no read too.

btw, I need to fix my sig. It is look pretty sad right now.
