I liked it, too, for a while, but lately it is pissing me off. I'm trying to play a TV episode I downloaded (24.S05E06.HDTV.XviD-LOL.avi) and it won't play. The scanning thing at the bottom jumps right across as if its playing a really short file, even though its over 300 MB. The viewer doesn't pop up, and I hear no sound. I thought it might be something wrong with the file itself, but there are many similar versions that are just as unplayable. Does anyone know if I might need a new codec, and which one to get if so? I thought I might need to update xvid codecs, but I'm running a mac and the only ones I've found are for PC. Please, thoughts?

VLC uses internal decoders, splitters, etc. Guess you could try mplayer or try the file on a PC.

I've been using the newest version of VLC (it supports h.264 with no problems), maybe you've got a hardware problem.
