I have an avi movie that is just a smidgen too big to fit on the DVD during the processing. I use a one-step program (Acala DVD Creator) normally and it works great. Is there a program that will read an avi file and make it smaller somehow so I can put the new file thru the regular process? Please excuse my ignorance, I'm still new to all of this. You guys know so much and this site is so awesome that I figure if it can be done, you'll know how.
If your conversion program can save the files to a standard DVD folder (ifo, vob, bup files)or an ISO image, then use DVD Shrink to fit the movie on a single layer disk. DVD Shrink http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/ Download, install and run. 'Open Files' choose the folder (or disk image)with the DVD files. Click 'Backup!' It will write the files to a new folder or image.
SLBeck: Maybe try ConvertxtoDvd or Nero Vision Express 3. I use these 2 progs all the time for avi files and have no problems. If the avi is too big the progs will automatically adjust the size to fit one dvd 5. Hope this helps. Laters.
