Does Anyone know the right adjustments to the picture when recording a tv show on Windows Movie Maker? When I record a show it usually comes out bright on white spots and dark on others...
When you choose capture from video device on the left bottom (once you have chosen your capture device) there is a video input source drop down (maybe greyed out). Under that is a configure button that has video control settings depending on your capture card. With my ATI I could set brightness, saturation, contrast, ect... Try those controls and see if you can get a better capture.
Yeah I Know about that stuff, its the things you were talking about-Contrast, brightness etc..I don't what good setting it needs to be on, I have the same ATI Radeon too, but its the adjusting that I need to know.
Well there is no catch all because every video is different. You can set some video setting and do a short capture and see which ones look best. Really the best way is to have a hardware colour corrector (expensive) in your capturing process to tweak while capturing. You can also capture as an uncompressed AVI (big filesize though) with ATI's TV capture software (I think Movie Maker only does WMV which is a big problem). You can then encode the video using something like VirtualDub applying video filters during encoding. Again though this is trial and error depending on your specific needs.
