My Toshiba A105-S2001 does not charge the battery from A/C.I have checked the status of the battery and Toshiba's Power Option Program shows 0% remaining even when the A/C is connected. Wen i start my computer the charging light comes on for ~30 sec and then goes out.I have updated my BIOS from 1.80 to 2.30, but i still have this problem. Model: Toshiba A105-S2001 BIOS: 2.30 OS: Windows XP SP2 Battery: Original. Purchased June 2006 Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
And, I'll bet if you unplug the ac adapter the computer will shut off in just a few seconds. I can't help much, but I have exactly the same problem. I opened the battery case and metered the battery pack. It was fully charged with almost 14 volts. That's why the light goes out. Each time you plug in, the charger gives the batteries a charge up to the 14 volt level. Since they're already charged, the charger doesn't stay on very long. The problem is in the computer circuitry/program that reads the available voltage level not recognizing the battery is fully charged. Toshiba offers a new BIOS download, saying that is the problem. However, I downloaded and installed the new BIOS and it didn't do anything. I've seen other threads saying it's a motherboard problem. Good luck.
And I just saw a message on another forum saying the problem seems to be linked to a windows update: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080527164747AAdYeNa
