I have a DVD-Rom and a DVD-RW on my computer. The DVD-RW drive reads as a CD Player when there is a disc in. When the disc is out the icon reads DVD-R drive, but the computer is still reading it as a CD player. So it looks like I have 2 CD players on my computer. And of course when I try to burn something, it doesn't. I get a message saying something like not a recordable disk. Help!

I have the same recorder and it works fine using WinXP Pro. what recording software are you using? it may be just a case of changing the drive in the "recorder" option

I'm using XP now. Haven't thought about changing the drive in the recorder option. I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks guys.

I guess I'll try Nero. I'm using Roxio EZ CD Recorder 5.0 now and it says there isn't a compatible drive. DVDXCopy doesn't recognize the DVD-R either. Any clue? Well again, thanks for the help.

There has been a good bit of people with that issue with ez cd creator 5 and dvdxcopy. For some getting the latest update for ez cd creator fix the problem but for others they had to uninstall ez cd creator all together. Either way you will need to install dvdxcopy again after you update ez cd or uninstall.

I'll try that too. I'm sure it's not a major problem. It's just odd that the DVD-RW drive reads as a DVD-R drive when there is no disc in and when there is a DVD-R disc in it reads as a CD-R. Weird! I'm sure something will work. Thanks for the advice.
