I have two mpg files that I want to merge. I have been unsuccessful because of different audio source and bit rate. What can I use to convert these files to the same format so I cam mege them? I have used MediaCoder (poor quality) and DigitalMediaConverter 2.5 (loses my audio track). Thanks for the help!
I use TMPGEnc to join my mpg. It's pretty fast at merging mpg but only mpg. Main page>file>mpeg tools>merge and cut. Just add your files in the order you want them joined, browse to where you want, name the merged file what you wish and hit run. Takes about 15 minutes. You could also have a look at Avi Joiner or Media Joiner.
Thanks Mistycat. I tried TMPGEnc but it requires that the mpg be the same audio/bitrate/FPS, etc. That's why I need to transcode them to the same format. If anyone knows a better way I'm all ears. One of the files has audio that is AC3 the other is PCM,etc.
This method is for avi and I have no idea if it will even recognize your mpg but you can have a look: http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/14/59/ and here for any audio problems: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/309635
I resolved the problem in a very clean way. I used DVD Copy to create the mpg's from two iso files. I then used Pinnacle Studio 9, loaded each of the mpegs separately and let Pinnacle's engine convert the mpg. After this, loading into TPMGEnc was easy and it worked flawlessly. Thanks.
Nero Vision hasn't got the greatest transcoding engine but its really easy to join two files with it. Load the files into Nero Vision, highlight them and click the merge button on the left hand side.
