transfer data from external hard drive

    i have a 1tb external hard drive (comstar) and when transfering files (movies) to my pc or another ext hard drive the transfer stops after about 30 sec and i no longer have a connection....any ideas on what the problem might be and is there any way to save my files. I can play a movie or work in the hard drive but for now it seems to konk out when transfering files to my pc

    have you tried all usb ports on the computer? does this happen on the front usb ports, back ports or all ports? does this have external power?

    have tried tranferring on another pc, different ports on my pc same problem. My other ext hard drives work ok on all ports.

    yes,same problem on other ports and on another pc. My other ext hard drives working fineon all ports.

    Sounds like a bad external enclosure to me. Have you tried a different enclosure?
