So im getting ready to sell my white ds lite, super card, superkey and mini sd card to my co worker for $200. With that money i am going to purchase a new Black Ds lite, M3 lite, passcard and micro sd card...either from here http://www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/dd-ds-m3lpass or here http://www.realhotstuff.com/lite-passcard-bundle-p-120.html now the question is as follows. I have a saved game file from FF 1&2. can i transer the saved game file somehow to the m3lite when i get it and not worry about it? or will i have to replay the whole game again. I assume though that since its a save game file ill be able to transfer it to the newer m3lite adapter, but i guess anything can happen in the world of computer related parts. Rock & Roll \m/ (-_-) \m/
you CAN transfer it.. but you may need to convert it to a standard .sav file before doing so. I'm not exactly sure what program would be able to convert it to a standard .sav, but if you come across one try it out. Keep the original supercard save in a safe directory and make a copy of it. Try everything on the copy and if you find anything that will convert it to a .sav, you should be OK. I'm not 100% sure how supercard saves work since I haven't taken a look into mine yet, but I could've sworn they come in a certain format but can be changed M3 Lite's game manager software would write the .sav to the M3 format, so you would have your progress again //EDIT: Just looked at the SC save files and it looks like they save it as .sav to begin with. So you should be ok.. I'm testing out converting a save so lets see what happens with it!
thanks pakixd...i really apprecaite it...i really look forward to getting the m3 lite as many of you guys have said great things about it. Not to say i have had many issues with the SC mini (somtimes the save game data wouldnt be seen for certain GBA games). But im do for an upgrade and i found the the right buyer so hell why not uprage right?
so i received my m3 lite and i started to test it out...i put Final Fantasy I & II - Dawn of Souls on the kingston micro sd card i have via game manager and enabled real time save.. i started teh game up and played for a moment...saved 2 different ways as i wasnt sure which what was the difference between the different save options..either way i saved 2 diff ways...than reset the ds lite and watched it do its auto save to memory card. i also saved mario kart to the card via the game manager as a well selecting software reset, 4xdma and rom trim. again proceeded to play it for a moment and reset and once again let it do its actual save to card thing. So i than took out my micro sd card and tossed it in my computer hoping to fine a compatible save file....to my dismay with mario kart i only found a scz-mkds.dat file and no xxxx.nds.save file or anything of the like with final fantasy as well. =( maybe im doing something wrong? i thought id see a .sav file and just transfer over my original ones i had from the supercard...i noticed that the m3 game manager creates 2 folders Gamesave and NDSsave...thats where i thought id find the .sav of sorts ...hopefully im doing something wrong and i can work around this...
M3 does not make a .sav extension file. It makes the .dat's If you want to convert your old .sav files into .dat, open up your M3 Game manager. Find the game you want to convert (lets say Mario Kart). Double click the Mario Kart.nds file and it should pop open with a Save manager. On that screen, click on "WRITE .SAV" and then choose your old save file for Mario Kart. Once it says "Write OK!", test it out to see if it works. I don't see why it wouldn't, since the formatting is correct and thats how you convert it. Let us know how that goes!
thank you thank you thank you....i had no idea i could do that...guess i still have some more reading up to do on th m3 and how it works...going to get some more games on it and such..and test out multiple saves...thanks again =^D
no problem.. glad it worked. here's a good site where you can find a lot of info about the M3: http://www.m3wiki.com
