Hello Everyone: I'm working a new project. I would like to transfer some 8mm movies to DVD. Can anyone suggest some good guides to follow? This is my first attempt at transfering 8mm. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

I did this quite some time ago. You'll need an 8mm projector, a camcorder, and a gizmo that allows you to video the actual 8mm film onto video - Vivitor used to make a unit. This unit is basically an enclosure that houses a small projection screen, and the projector goes into one end and the camcorder in the other. It basically allows for optimal lighting conditions to make a good video copy of the film I think. Once you have the video of the 8mm film, you can then capture/encode/author/burn to DVD-R. If you're unable to find one of these units, you can probably get away by using a projection screen.

    Rgds,
