i tried setting the shortcuts that came with the latest build of xbmc and tried to set it as my default dash, but now i cant boot it up...the xbox logo comes up, but the screen does black and nothing happens...no error codes. i can still boot the ms dash and play games from it, however i cant play or load anything IE: slayers from the evo dash. also i CAN'T Ftp my box either!! i have a modchip as opposed to a softmod is there anything else i can do apart from that hotswap trick, i dont really want to open my box....
Does modchip still work? when you load ms dash, does modchip turn on? turn on modchip and try to load slayers disk.
to turn the mod chip on or off, i need to press the power button, to turn it on and the eject button to boot to ms dash. if i turn on the power button, the purple xbox logo comes up and then it just goes black! if i boot to ms dash it boots grand, but wont read the disk! dirty/damaged was thinking about putting in a new hdd anyway, is it just a case of putting a new one in and loading slayers??
Are you sure that you have modchip on your xbox? I dont think that you have it. Usually, to turn on or off modchip, there is a switch for it. As you said above, you have a softmod xbox. Well to fix it, you have to load the game that you used to softmod and access to linux file and reinstall softmod.
Before my modchip failed, it worked the same way as his. There wasn't an on/off switch on it. It would just be enabled when you boot with the power button, and would be disabled when booted with the eject button. It was a Magic clone if I recall. Just throw in the Slayer's disc, shut off the Xbox, and boot with the power button. It should be able to read it.
eh, yes im sure i have a mod chip!! the modchip isnt even a year old, so i dont think it could fail just yet. its not loading the dash because i moved the evodash.xml file and replaced it with an xbmc.xml file which was included in the latest build...... i hvae slayers in and it just black, black screen......
That's not a good sign... Just soft mod it then. A lot easier than having to deal with the eject/power button set-up of that mod chip.
well i cant do anything with it at the min as it wont read any disks or connect to ftp!!! think ill have to connect the xbox hdd to my pc and move the files back, i didnt delete the original evodash.xml, i only renamed it, so hopefully all wont be lost!!!???
ok, i fixed the problem quite easily with the hotswap technique...wasn't that hard, but im always cautious of opening up my xbox, expecially when the power is turned on!!!!!!lol!!
