for some time now at work i can't access certain websites....i have noticed that it only seems to do it with websites that start out https and none with http...so i assume it is secure websites...i was told to run ad-aware..which worked the first time but i think it was coincidence....cause it happened again...and i ran the ad-aware and NADA, zip, zilch, nothing...still no access.....any suggestions...thanx
A couple things to try off the top of my head: Check your time/date. Many SSL certificates have an expiration date and if your clock is wrong they might not work. Check that port 443 is not blocked on your firewall. SSL uses that port. Try Verisign's test page: http://www.verisign.com/advisor/check.html It will tell you if there is a problem with your SSL too.
I know you are using Firefox. In tools/options/web features.. Be sure to tic the Java and Javascript boxes and to remove the website (if there is) from the block list.
i think i got it to work...it was the stupid norton firewall that was affecting it....also to respond to your comment phys...the pc at work doesn't have firefox...i tried getting it but when i open it, it says "the connection was refused when trying to contact ----" so that's another problem....but thanx for the ideas
