Hi everyone Now I know this may sound newbish, because I just got into burning DVDs, but I have backed up my copy of Silent Hill, and it worked fine in my dvd player. (BTW, my DVD player is an LG LDA-730, which plays DVD/VCD/CD/DviX/MP3/WMA and JPEG) I backed up my version of Donnie Darko, but it is in two avi files. I tried Merge/joining them, that took about 40 hours, and I got mpeg files, which my mom said DVD players cant use, so i deleted them. So I finally just burnt the two avi files using Nero smart start (I think thats what its called) and it worked fine, except there was no audio. When I checked the menu, the audio said that it was using an MP3 file or something for the audio. So I after that, I tried watching it on my computer, and it works fine in Windows Media Player. Have any of you run into this problem, and/or can tell me how to fix it. Much appreciated
Hi. What program did you use to generate AVI file backups from your disk? DVD players actually playback mpegs that are in DVD compliant form. DVDs contain mpeg 2 files. If you're backing up a DVD you own, try using Ripit4me: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/422740
ok, well first of all, I didnt want to break any rules, so I should probably have put "backed up" or..in other words...downloaded.anyways, I THINK I may have found the problem, but I dont know. I am using The FilmMachine right now to encode everything for DVD players. I added up my "backed up" file and everything matched up fine. Filename: Donnie Darko 1.1.avi Filesize: 2.63 GB Streams: (i.e Video,Audio) 2 ---------------------------------------------------- Video info Compression Codec: XviD (complied w/ DVD player) (etc... etc...etc..) ---------------------------------------------------- Audio Info 1 Wave Codec: PCM (Complied w/ DVD player) Avg. Bitrate : 1536 Kbps (this did not comply. the combatability for the DVD player is 8-320 Kbps (MP3) and 320-192 Kbps (WMA) I dont know if this is a problem, but it might be. Another problem that may be is it says in the book that came with the DVD player, "If the Video and Audio structure of recorded file is not interleaved, either video or audio is outputted" So, what my settings are for the FilmMachine is as follows. Output file type - MPEG 2 (VCD/DVD) Video Encoders- QuEnc AC3 Encoders - Besweet (I dont know about it being in ac3 tho, because it dosnt say anything about ac3 in the book. Video NTSP to PAL (checked) Video Source is interlaced (checked) I hope this helps, and sorry for any confusion, I feel like I'm walking on eggshells when I mention downloads
