I recently restored my laptop back to the factory. I went to windows and ran the updater to get all the updates I would need from way back when I bought the computer. The version of windows xp my laptop came with had service pack 1. The problem I am having is getting service pack 2 downloaded. Everytime I run the updater it tells me I need to load service pack 2, however it will not load. I have tried multiple times to download sp2 and everytime it runs for about 15 minutes or so and then I get a warning "Control ID not Found." If someone can help me out it would be great, there a lot of updates I need to do but cannot until I get sp2 loaded.

Have you tried installing it off the CD? (you can order for free from Microsoft -- that's what I did because the updates thing wasn't working)
