    Hi all,

I just recently bought a PS3 and I am having a little trouble. I back-up my movies on Verbatim DVD+R Double Layer dvd's using HD DVD Decryptor followed by DVD Shrink. DVD Shrink is set to set the disc to a DVD-R book type although in the PS3 the discs are listed as being DVD+R.

For the most part, the dvd's do start when inserted but I never have gotten past the previews or menu of the DVD. The controller functions have no affect. I can run every one of these discs with my xbox 360 and standard Sony DVD player with no problems. I do notice that the PS3 seems to be constantly trying to read the DVD. Either I get a menu screen (can go to scene selection but choosing a scene produces no effect at all). I have used single layer 4.7 gb DVD's (burnt in the same method) in the PS3 prefectly.

I am burning them with a Lite-On LH-20A1L drive. I have read that DVD Shrink always finalizes DVD's through Nero so that can't be it? maybe they are not finalized?. I do notice that when checking the DVD info through the PS3, the disc type is listed as video disc/DVD+R and usually says Title 1 (sometimes 30). When I watch single layer DVD's, I do not even have the 'info' option. Anther interesting, and perhaps significant, find is that when I take one of these DL dvd's and put it into my PC and open up HD DVD Decryptor, the progress bar in the program continuously "goes" and I never get the option to back up the DL DVD.

    Nero version 6
    HD DVD Decryptor: most recent

    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply. I will use it from now on.

I am still hoping to figure out a way to get my current ones to play.
