My Sony DVD player will only play Dvix. I usually have no trouble converting downloaded material from xvid to Dvix, however occasionally I lose sync after my normal conversion. I have been told that 4CC should solve the problem. I downloaded an item that Gspot said was: Codex: xvid Name: XviD 1.1.2 Final My compuer plays this no problem with sound in sync After I use 4CC.... Gspot shows the following Codex: Divx Name: XviD 1.1.2 Final My computer again plays it ok but it refuses to play on my Sony DVD player. Is their any other program that I can use? Thanks
Apart from the option of converting it to DVD format, you could load it into VirtualDub and re-compress it to DivX - assuming that the DivX codec is installed in the PC. If the audio is variable bit rate, it would probably be better to re-compress it at the same time to CBR using the Lame mp3 codec - if it's installed.
Many thanks for your reply. I Have Virtual Dub but it's a complete mystery to me. The Help file simply says the program designer is too busy to write a help file. I can see how to open the file (it says this file maybe out of sync)...it got that right! But I don't see how to get it to start doing what ever it is the it's suppose to do. I downloaded Lame and it appears to be an even greater mystery. No help file and it's not even a windows program, so I don't know where to start. Can you advise me where I can geta simple A B C recipe of how I can employ these programs just to do what I need to do? Thanks again
Install the codecs (note all of these can be uninstalled if required) run VDub, drag the XviD file onto it. You may or may not get a warning about the audio being VBR and might have sync problems, however press on and: Click Video > Full Processing Mode > Compression > Select the DIVX codec. click 'File' > 'Save as' Check the new file for sync. For the first time I was able to use Virtual Dub...thank you for your clear instructions. Unfortunately it didn't clear up the problem. I have installed the Lame but I can't see how to tell Virtual Dub to use it? What would be the best way of converting this into a DVD? Thanks again.

I installed and ran vsoDvixToDVD but the voices are still out of sync.This file also has max voice levels that are barely louder than a whisper. Since the last time I wrote I found a second file that is identical. I am trying vso on that file now, but I don't have high hopes. Is their some way for me to include the Gspot analysis so that the problem might be reviewed and possibly resolved? It is frustrating to see the XviD version play so beautifully and yet be unable to convert it to a playable Dvix. Thanks again
