I'm trying to backup a owned game that requires 2 cds for installation ( please insert disk 2...) If I extract the 2 CDs contents and burn it on DVD , will it be smart enough to search the DVD to find it , and be able to continue installation ? thanks a ton
Is was done here , but reverse (1 DVD to 6 CD'S) http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/82114 Anyone know of a way to do 2 CD to 1 DVD?
The reverse was doable because Atari designed the CD version first and then made the DVD just a compilation of the CD version.... like i said... unless you know some programming, it's not gonna work the way u want it to
I succeeded in actually doing it with NBA LIVE 2004 and FIFA 2004 (should work with all EA titles; that is if they have this file): First I copied all CD1 and CD2 contents to a 2 folders on my computer (cd1 contents--->to cd1 on desktop, cd2 to cd2). On CD1 there is a file called common-filelist.txt, with a whole list of files: 1,1,Support\*.* /s 1,1,eauninstall.exe 1,1,renfe\xarena.viv 1,1,movies\cameo10.mad 1,1,movies\cameo11.mad 1,1,movies\cameo12.mad etc, etc. at the end instead of 1 there is a 2 [bold]2[/bold],1,movies\cameo20.mad 2,1,movies\cameo21.mad 2,1,movies\cameo22.mad Now, upon looking at cd1 they didn't contain these files, but cd2 does. So, I renamed it to [bold]1[/bold],1,movies\cameo20.mad 1,1,movies\cameo21.mad 1,1,movies\cameo22.mad etc, etc. So I moved the files from cd2 to cd1 (in their file structure), and then ran the installer without any problems (no "please insert cd2"), and with successful installation. Then I applied a NOCD patch. It plays perfectly! If anyone knows any other games that have these files, please post, as well as a way to do it without this fileā¦ thanks and hope this helps
