I have a dvd player that will not play svcds, I read about the vcd header trick but cannot even get a cd to burn through nero...heres what I have done: 1. Converted the bin/cue to a .mpg. 2. Added the headers as stated in the guide and created another .mpg file. 3. Both .mpg files play fine as is on my computer. My trouble comes when I try to burn to a CD using Nero. 4. I followed the guide on here, unchecked make the cd compliant, tried to burn as vcd, got message not enough media space on blank cd...tried to burn as svcd got the same error message. Can someone please help me before I throw my friggin computer out the window?!?!?! Thanks a lot.
Well Maybe Nero is Telling you the Truth, Maybe the File is Too big to fit on a CD-R..If it is Only a few MB like 10mb or 20mb Max you can try enableing "Overburning" in Nero and set it to say 82 minutes and this should fit 820mb on a 700mb CD-R..but if it is Still a Bit to big you can load the Mpeg file into Tmpgenc"s Merge & Cut and cut off the end credits to lower the File size....good Luck
Thanks for your response...in looking a little more in depth I discovered this...when it says the cd is not large enough it says video1 (mode2/xa) time = 89 mins...the actual length on the screen where you load the file says only 49 minutes...any clue whats causing the huge jump?
This Is because a Standard VCD uses 10mb per minute, so when you Load a 800mb VCD File in when burning in VCD Mode is will say that it is 80 minutes Long..But you are Not useing a Standard VCD you are Burning a SVCD to as a VCD and SVCD uses twice the Bitrate as VCD so your Movie will only be 49 minutes Long but at 20mb per minute you are well over 800mb...Anyways Nero has a wierd way of mesureing the Length and Size of files so it is Best to Just look at the Actual Size of the Mpeg file instead of going by what nero says the file is...I never use nero to Burn as it has allways caused me problems, I allways found it best to use something like VCDEasy to author VCD/SVCD"s because it doesn"t play games like nero does and it supports Chapters which are very helpfull when navigateing your Movie...Cheers
file size = 787 megs...shouldnt that burn in nero w/out a problem? I should be burning the actual mpg file right, not converting it to a bin and burning an image? Any other burning software you can recommend besides vcdeasy??? Thanks a lot.
In theory that Should Burn with Any Burning software But the Problem is that when Nero writes the Image file before burning it to CD-R it might add Padding to it which will make it bigger...But I guess it is worth a Shot..
