    hey guys
i downloaded .bin and .cue image files and im trying to burn them to a vcd using alcohol120.

alcohol goes ahead and burns the cd fine. the file structure and the mpeg file are burned, but when i try playing it using either a cd player, or using media player, it just gets stuck.
it never manages to open the file and i end up having to close the player using the task manager.

the bin/cue files play fine off my computer using vlc media player

any ideas what the prob could be? thanks

    thanks for the tip dela.

i just tried it on windDVD and it plays. im guessing then that the reason why it doesnt play using windows media player or on my dvdplayer is that it is a svcd and not a vcd.

i assumed that the only way around this is to convert it to vcd format, is that right?
(sorry im real new to this)

    thanks again

actually its not just windows media player that cant play the cd... its all of my players (except winDVD), which includes divx player, real player, quicktime player, irfanview...
they all get stuck trying to open the file.

    what could the prob be?
    thanks

i just wanted to add that i tried converting the svcd to a vcd but im still having a problem.

so i made a true mpeg file using vcd easy. i then tried to encode it using TMPGEnc, but when i select the mpeg file in the "select source file" window, an error immiediately pops up saying that the file "can not open, or unsupported".

do you know what the problem could be?

another thing is that the when i tried playing the mpeg created by vcdeasy everyhting was fine except that the video was been horizontally shrunk... it was originally wide screen, but now there is a big black frame on all four sides of the video. im not sure if this is normal, or if it has anything to do with the problem above, but i thought id mention it.

    thanks

Make sure u have the newest TMPGEnc!! Older TMPGEnc's wont open MPEG-2!

The problem could easily be that your windows media player has no filter/codec for MPEG-2!! Wheras a software dvd player has to be able to play MPEG-2!!
