Ok, I've been going at this for hours and I really hope someone can do this or show me how. I got this wma file from http://cottsboomsmack.blogspot.com/2006/05/monday-5-15.html You click on the date that says Monday 5-15 and can download a 4.5 hour/40mb wma file of the KROQ Kevin and Bean show from that date. There was a very funny clip that is from 2 hours 10 minutes 33 seconds to 2 hours 18 minutes 13 seconds I want to edit out. I've tried about 8 different programs to either convert it or split that section out to a seperate clip. About 28% through the file it appears to have an error and I can get any program to get past that error so I can edit out the clip I want. Please help!
what have you used so far to convert it? Try dBPowerAMP. you can find the link in my sig below. be sure to install the wma codec plugin. if it still fails, try downloading the file again and start over.
Thanks for your help. I was not aware dbpoweramp had a wma plugin. I installed it and it still said there was an error and could not convert it. The error is in about the same place where all programs that would convert wma's failed. (28% or 75:43). Would Soundforge or is there any other programs that can split out a clip from a wma without having to check the whole file first. When programs check the file they crash at the same place. The basic "Sound Recorder" that comes with Windows XP would do it if it was a dang .wav file. I redownloaded the file and tried again but same thing. It must be the file that is corrupt. Another question, Is there any programs that inspect a audio file for errors and fix them? Thanks again for your time and assistance.
well is sounds like for certain the media file itself is corrupt, so no matter how many progams you try, its still not going to open it. as far as I know there's no program that really fixes corrupted files. try email kroq or kevin and bean to let them know there is a problem with their media files. maybe they're already aware of it, who knows. I love kevin and bean though. my drive to hollywood every morning wouldn't be the same without them...
