FloydFan , first edit your keycodes a couple of things first your burning to fast slow it down to 4x or NO faster than 8x try a newer verison of nero , i like the 7.5.1.1 download here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/ i don't see what the brand of blank media you are using but try Taiyo Yuden ,Verbatim or MIJ Maxell make sure you have the latest firmware for your drive/burner check here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php also make sure your burning in a clean machine(disc cleanup and defragging often) and without other programs running while burning
This is the latest version of Nero that I can currently afford. I am currently using Memorex CD-R's If I burn any slower then Max it doesn't burn at all. I can find no firmware for this drive. When I burn I close all programs except for burning software. Any Ideas now?
if you have nero you can update it at NO charge lol and as said use better media NO memorex its crap media what brand of burner do you have? BTW "Animals" is my fav. "Pink Floyd" album lol
Oh duh, I knew that lol Alright I will try a different brand of DVD's And I am not a hundred percent sure what this burner is, it just came preloaded with the machine. I plan on getting a new one soon, prob an HP And nice to be helped by another Floyd fan
Ok Well this isn't a reply to your post more like asking for help about this same drive. Ok this Gateway Computer is almost a year old and last night the CD drive was working just fine, and then this morning the CD drive wasn't working. I went to the device manager and it said that the drivers aren't found. What I find as very odd is that from the time I shut the computer down to when I started it up this morning nothing has been deleted or sent to the recycle bin. So if you have any information that might be useful for me please send me, I would appreciate it alot Thank you Oh and sorry for replyingto your post with a completely different question.
ok go yo device manager and uninstall the drive , reboot your machine and windows will automaticly reinstall the drive. if that doesn't work check your connects to the drive
Ok, I uninstalled the drive and restarted the computer and when I started it up it said new hardware found and then an error message appeared that said that there was an error locating the driver information for this drive. Ok then i checked the drive connections and I unplugged them and plugged them back in just to make sure they were connected properly and they were. Would there be som website I could go to to get the drivers for free or would I have buy a whole new CD-ROM drive???
Ok I went to that site and i couldnt find that specific drive, so would it matter if it wasnt the specific model number? I think it would right?
YOu should be able to find drivers at the gateway support site. There may be a firmware update for that burner there as well. There may also be drivers on one of the disks supplied with your computer.
Ok well now this really sucks because I can't find anything about this drive and now Gateway said that when they looked into the problem more that it might be the motherboard. So I sent the computer back to gateway and they said that the warranty covered it but now i have to wait 2 weeks for a new computer and also that without a CD drive it would cost more for them to take all the files off this computer and give them back to me on something else like a jump drive but on this computer ther are over 6 gigs of pictures and a whole lot more of other files so I have no idea what to do now. Thanks for everyones help.
I know a few of these drives that have failed in strange ways like this.. It seems to be a bit of a Samsung bug. If memory serves me right it's the equivalent of the Samsung SH-W162C The HP/Lenovo OEM drives are NOT supported by the Toshiba/Samsung firmware updates.. just so you know. Firmware for TSS/Toshiba/Samsung is at http://www.toshibaer.com/firmware/ and the flash utility is on this page http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2078 As with all firmware flashing there is a very real risk of creating a brick. Only attempt it after fully researching your drive, and it's current firmware revision. At least the manufacturers/retailers are going to fix it for you.
Ok I will look into it, but if it doesnt work then in the future i know not to purchase a screwy CD drive with a computer. Thanks.
