Hi, I'm just about to buy an AVER TV DVB-T. It says it records digital tv straight to my hard drive in MPEG2 format, so then what do I need to do to burn to DVD?
It depends on whether you wish to view the DVD on a stand alone DVD player or a PC. If you just wish to view on a PC you can simply burn the files on to a disc or you can even record straight to DVD RW! However if you wish to make a 'proper' DVD the mpeg files will need to be cleaned by a program called pvastrumento ( see http://www.offeryn.de/dv.htm ) this is because a broadcast signal will obviously have a few errors in it (these can be corrected by a digital TV tuner as standard) but DVD players don't expect errors in the programme stream so can't correct them. Once you have a cleaned mpeg you can use any off-the-shelf DVD burning software to create you own DVDs. Hi Luxurylap. Thanx for the help. I wanted to play the dvds in a standalone, so I'm downloading pvastrumento as we speak... Had a look at the Nebula website. Unfortunately I live in Adelaide, Australia and digital tv tuners are hard to come buy (the one I'm getting the guy had to order from Melbourne especially) so it's the Aver or nothing as far as I'm concerned. It's arriving on Monday, so if I'm not to busy playing with it, I'll let you know how I get on. Thanx!
I beleive http://www.digitalnow.com.au are the Australian stockists of the Nebula card. You might also be interested to know that the Nebula card supports High Definition TV as well as standard def. As far as I know the Aver is only capable of receiving standard definition broadcasts and won't be compatable with Australian High Definition TV.
Hi St_Bambi, I recently got my external Digital box from Nebula. I ordered it over the net from Digitalnow and had it 2 days later (im in melbourne). I used to have an avermedia card but it was absolutely rubbish. The Nebula box is far superior and the software is about 8billion times better then the avermedia software.
smshado what was wrong with your AverMedia card? I'm experimenting with one now. It seems ok if you have good reception.
