TV Tuner Card Recording Sizes

    Hi all,
    I'm new to this forum so not sure if it has been discussed already...

    I need a TV card which has variable recording rate settings. I have a VisionPlus DTV card which records at a set high rate, taking up a lot of disc space. Are there any cards which give you the option of recording the signal at lower levels (like around 8 Mbit/s?)

    I work for a media monitoring company so we record TV virtually 24/7 and keep everything for about 1 month so disk space is a major issue for us.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    AFAIK they don't exist unfortunately.

    Digital TV cards record the broadcast mpeg stream which is determined by the broadcasters themselves.

    You could compress your recordings after they have been reecorded. Doom9 have a guide on how to compress your DVB recording to divx/mpeg4 format:
