I just wrecked both of my DVD drives I have a Lite-On SHM-165H6S and a Lite-On SOHW- 1633S both DVDRWs. I have uninstalled from the Device manager hardware, no luck when the computer rebots they don't show the dvd drives in My Computer. I have two yellow exclamation points in Device Manager for both drives. Went on line download firmware and divers computer says" These number drives not found on my system. I don't wanna buy new drives, is there a solution. Of course I did a system restore went back to Nov. 26, No luck.
Hi dickeyjay Check your connections on the drives - make sure they are secure in the back of the drive & the port in the motherboard. Power connection too. May just want to disconnect the connections then put back in nice and snug. What does the warning show by the exclamation in device manager? Last question what changed since the drives are no longer detected?
Thanks, I did both of those before I wrote original thread. The problem started when I uninstalled AnyDVD and installed DVD_43. DVD_43 could fine no DVD drives...............headache every since.
Update.....I installed the two drives in another computer, they worked fine. I changed the cable. I believe I uninstalled something in Windows Prefetch win tryin to completly uninstalled AnyDVD. The drives never worked again on this computer.Rest of the computer works fine so far.
I did the unthinkable and did a system restore from the manufacturing disc. The drives are fine all of my files well that another question... Restore disk said it would partition the drive and keep my files....wrong. Is their anyway to get that stuff back.
