Hi All, I have noticed on some recent films, that when I go to back them up, DVDFAB or Clone DVD shows two large Titles. For example on "The Abyss" one of 2hrs 18 mins and one of 2 hrs 43 mins, how do you know which one to select. When I preview both titles they look the same. This is not happened just on this movie, I have seen it on others too, which results in me using a dual layer disk to get it all, rather than picking one title and putting it on a single layer. I suspect one of them is directors comments, but how can you check this? I thought about looking on the original disk and playing the file names in Power DVD or similar , but of course these are VOBs all of .99GB which does not help identfy the file you want to check. Hi, This reminds me of movies that contain two versions of the movie, usually 4:3 and wide screen. I used DVD Shrink and previewed them. In most cases they were both the same size. I believe you are correct when you state that one may contain directors comments. Use DVD Shrink to re-format the files to fit on a 4.3 disk.

Sometimes movies have two choices with regular and extend versions, or they are offering different screen formattings. If they are formatted for different screen size or are extended versions you can fix that too easily with DVD Shrink. Use shrink and go to the ripped file and load it's VT file as though ripping, and it will scan the file. In the right panel you should see the entire contents of your DVD and you will notice two large files of about the same size give or take a few 10s of Megabytes. From here you can click on each of them with shrink and play them to see which is the one that you want. Then choose re-author above and drag the one that you want into your left screen. Make sure under compressions settings that you choose no compression (also uncheck unwanted sound tracks) if you want to use another transcoder. It will drop the file into a folder and you can work with it as though it was just ripped.
Sometimes they create a misleading IFO that includes extra footage of, say the director cutting in and saying 'DON'T STEAL MY MOVIE A$$HAT' or some such. The best way to know which title you want is to play the DVD (as a DVD) in a standalone or software player and turn on the on screen display.
