- firmware is up to date - 192MB is barely sufficient for XP, never mind DVD work on top of that. - firmware's detected the media ok - splat!
thanks for the reply...so do you know how i can resolve the problem? i just burnt one on a brand new disc...the error only comes up when trying to overwrite on a rw
no worries, but you need to follow my previous comments as they do need addressing.... and it could always be that the burner just didn't like that Philips RW disc even thought it was a new disc.
sorry for my ignorance...last time. i promise ok..so i make the memory bigger and ... Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR) Write error Burn process failed at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s) what do i need to do about this?
no problem, all replies are good. sorry, 'splat!' is my trademark for when all other things have been answered in a log and i round off the reply with a great big 'splat'. as to the memory, yup, i consider 512MB to be the minimum amount for DVD work. The PC i'm replying to on now, is one i built today, it only has 192MB and is slow as anything while i'm opening a few browser windows to solve logfiles such as yours. (i only built this PC for the internet so i can leave my main PC for dvd work - the spec of that PC is in my signature). anyway, i'm even trying out the Firefox browser to see if that's more lean on memory usage as i think the most this old PC can take is 256MB
