Did a clean install, typical uninstall Nero, CCleaner, Nero Clean tool, reboot, and defrag. Then went to install an older version of Nero since the latest has been the worst piece of software I have ever used. Atleast 7.5.7.0 and 7.8.5.0 were some what reliable. But bashing nero is like beating a dead horse. Regardless I want to go back to 7.5.7.0 or 7.8.5.0 or whatever is advised as the most stable version, but on my current install when trying to launch Nero Vision I get "unable to intialize the nero api unspecified error after clean install" so i used Force ASPI and did a reboot as it said. Force ASPI says my ASPIs are fine. However even after a reboot I have an ASPI error. Can any one help?!
I'm not sure the api error and aspi are the same here. I am also not sure when the CClearner software started being used, since I worry some things might be removed that should not be removed. I would suggest you run the Clean tools, which is all you really need to remove the software. If you want, run the registry cleaner also on this page http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/Clean_Tools.html Then I would go through and remove all folders named either Nero or Ahead. If you are running Vista, you will need to change the default search functions to find all the folders. Reboot and then reinstall which version you want. I have seen in the past, some folks had problems installing an older version than the last one, but you can try. If you do have problems, get back to us and perhaps we can find a file that references which version you have.
IHoe and binky have been telling people to do the ccleaner for months. I will give installing another chance.
Did the above steps i mentioned over and still have an API error. Also for some reason Ulead DVD workshop crashes when I try to open it. Not sure if its related or not :s
