    Hi there globalwin,

Sounds like you "Smashed" the encryption instead of picking it apart.

I suggest you use DVD Shrink to rip it (DVD Shrink will rip it gently) and compress it and put it on your HD using HD folder. Then if you wish, pick up the files with CloneDVD and burn to disc.

    Pete

    It's probably a multi-angled DVD so

    Hi globalwin,

Most DVDs have P-UOPs (Prohibited User OPerations) residing in certain title sets to prevent you from fast forwarding or skipping through them (FBI Warning, etc).
The stop button provides an exit command to your DVD player. Some DVD players do not exit immediately but will give you a message like "to resume play, select play again, to exit, select stop".
My DVD player always asks me if I would like to resume play from where I left off or from the beginning.
The way the DVD player knows where it is so it can resume play is from information stored on the DVD itself and then provided to registers in your player. If that information is not there or the wrong values are being sent to the registers, then pressing the stop button won't work.

I'm not familiar with DVD decorder, so I can't give you much advise on it. I would recommend a different free program or two that are known to provide good back-ups and are easy to use.
DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. With these two programs you can make back-ups without changes being made that renders your remote inoperable.
DVD Decrypter should work with CloneDVD 2 as well.

I generally use Shrink first to decrypt and compress the movie, then by selecting an ISO image as the output and enabling burn with DVD Decrypter, the burn process is completed automatically. Very easy.
