ok here's the gist of things as a noob i am learning about xbox homebrewing, I bought a modded xbox off ebay, I wanted to upgrade to a bigger hdd, to save everyones trouble I followed this site and got it done

    http://www.copying-xbox-games.com/tutorials.php?tutorialid=00000032

problem number one: However for some reason now i can't just push the power button to go to the XMB menu, now i HAVE to hold the power button to turn on the modchip, i use to be able to just push the power button once (not modchip mode) and i get the screen with the options i.e 'play games from HDD' or choose 'apps'

problem number 2: I would put the game in the e:\games folder

for some reason i can't play it on the 'play games on harddrive option' why is that?

anyways.. before i upgraded the hdd i could just copy games and use a app to play, but now i get errors like:

    e:\games\silentscope\default.xbe
    XBE: default.xbe
    path E:\games\silentscope
    Dev: \device\harddisk0\partition\games\silentscope

it happens when i use example 'mediaXmenu' to play it

    OTHER QUESTIONS

how come when i use mediacentre to open a movie but if i push a button whilst movie plays the whole thing freezes?? i have to reboot the system

same thing happens if i try to open silent scope through 'files' explorer within media centre. Why does the xbox like to freeze?

there are issues with large hd's, like data is getting bad etc. etc. not sure how big your harddrive is...

maybe you should run the softmod again. not really sure what you are trying to accomplish but:
if you boot of the chip. get yourself an aid/slayer disc and reinstall your dashboard again. i'd suggest format your whole drive then do a clean install with one of the above discs (backup your data, it will be gone). or else only reinstall your dashboard again (this will only format the c drive and leave the e/f/g drives untouched.

if you do run of the ms bios, you have to do a softmod. then you cannot use the slayer disc (maybe aid?) since then it will only boot to the ms dash if you run of the chip.

since i am not really sure what you are trying to do (boot of the chip ==> use boot disk, or, boot of ms bios ==> need a softmod)

your box freezes a lot.... that might be a harddrive issue, bad sectors, data corruption (if you are using a really large hard drive) or even a failing harddrive

    some tips:
get avalaunch as your primary dashboard to play games and stuff. i prefer it over evox and unleash.
get xbox media center (google it) for playing audio/video. you can also install this as primary dashboard, but i wouldn't recommend it.
all the other mediaplayers are inferior to xbmc, but you can install them as apps if you like
