When it asks for a password, press select, then enter 7444 as a password. that will reset the password. Then, enter a new passcode. To can also, using the parental level menu, Change the level to anything you want, or turn it off.

What ever you do, rememeber to eject the disk BEFORE you turn off the console, otherwise the ps2 will not save your changes. "quote"

    Try that yet?

Hey, just thought of something. That is for PS2 I don't know about PS1?? Also the default is usually something simple like 0000 or 1234 play around and you'll probably hit it.

    creaky,
You're absolutely right, I just figured that since I don't have the power to move the thread that I would still try and help? In the future should I not respond to misposted questions? If so that's fine just fill me in on the protocol.

    Later,

nothing wrong with helping 'em out, what i personally do is report it as an offensive post BUT not to cuase grief for the poster, but to alert a MOD to move the thread to appropriate forum (and i leave a reply to the post so the original poster knows i'm not getting 'em in to trouble). ie i always say in the offensive post that it's not actually offensive. i'm not sure if this is ok but i haven't been asked not to do that yet. the only other way is to PM a mod but who's to say that particular mod is around.

the alternative is to ask the poster to post in the right forum but then they'd have 2 posts on the go so i prefer the first option.
