unlocking a laptop???????

My laptop locked itself and now when I turn it on, the screen remains blue. I have no idea on how to go about fixing it. The laptop is Comapaq, Windows XP.
Does anyone know what to do?

Put the XP Cd in and start her up.. use the R option to reset it.
