I have a retail Xbox, no mods hard or soft. I have opened it to confirm everything is seated and clean. I basicaly get the christmas lights red gren red green etc. I can get to the dashboard, but soon it gives me a 13 or 21 error. I probably have a bad hard drive or dashboard according to the error. What is the best way to restore or get a standard dashboard or a standard format back on this drive? I want it to remain legal.
turn on xbox and listen to hdd. You will hear the hdd spins. But when error come on, does the hdd still spin? If hdd still spins, then dashboard has problem. So just find out which one is bad first.
from experience with bad xbox hd's they click very loudly and the error 13 will come up about 15 seconds late......i have only had bad dashboards a couple of time with unmodded xbox's especially....if you have not broke your warranty on the xbox send it to microsoft they will fix it i think they will charge like 50 dollars US...other than that get a modchip...
I was told by the xbox help line that there was zero chance they would fix an opened xbox. They evidently just send it back.
So a modchip? any recommendations on which one or where to get one? Can I get a new dashboard without a modchip? I want of course whats easiest. And no the hard drive appears to stay on with no clicks.
When I buy this , do I still need to buy a game such as splinter cell? can you recommend a place to buy this modchip?
Wut I would reccomend is buying a modchip( I would suggest somthing but you seem pretty set on that solerless) and a new hard drive, and useing a combo of slayers auto installer and AID 3.3 to install it.
