'unplayable video content'

Hi

I just tried to watch two divx movie files via a usb, and encountered the above message. This is particularly frustrating since my ps3 plays them fine from the putset, and doesn't instruct me to 'update' via the net (which I can't do).

Is it possible to download and install (presumably) codecs onto the usb. otherwise this problem is needlessly silly - the console is brand new and shouldn't need an update to play video files.
