hi all ive just replaced my old dvdrom with a dvd writter pioneer 115d. i also have a cd writter artec wrr 4048 which im going to replace with a lg8162 when it arrives so i can back up my wii games. the reason i took out the dvdrom first was when i reinstaled xp a while ago the dvdrom didnt show up in my computer folder but when i put the pioneer 115d in and booted up windows it found the new hardware. every thing ok so far. but when i try to burn a mp3 on a cdr or cdrw (only discs i have as ive only had a cd writter) with the pioneer writter nero gives me a unspecified recorder error. the writter does burn cd aswell as dvds dont it? please can someone help as you can tell im a complete noob at this stuff. thanks in advance. karl
Post that error log here. Also make sure that you have the proper jumper settings, cable selec/slave/master set up. Your burner should come with instructions on how it should be installed.
thank you for your fast reply like i said iam a noob at this stuff but im trying hard please bear with me right as far as i can work out from the instructions and what you said about jumpers i think this is right the pioneer has a little cap on the far right. the instructions say pin#1 is on as default and pin#1 is ma master.the cd writter has a cap on 2nd from right which on top of cd writter sais sl i take it thats slave. so i think thats what youf talking about jumpers or should there be cables going to each drive? sorry im a complete noob at this. also heres the log thank you again for your help karl 1C82-0000-19E5-MAAX-4004-8252-**** Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - NT-SPTI used Nero Version: 7.10.1.2 Internal Version: 7, 10, 1, 2 Recorder: <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-115D>Version: 1.06 - HA 1 TA 0 - 7.10.1.2 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2000kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? It seems that a new firmware is available for your drive, version 1.18 : http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2453 Also, turn the DMA on for your drive Samsung drive. It is possible that your Pioneer drive does not like having a slave. Try disconnecting the Artec CDRom and give it a try. Prodisc are low quality discs. Try some verbatim or Sony.
hi mate ive tried dl 1.18 firmware but when i click install it said failed to move to the normal mode. also i dont know how to turn the DMA on for the Samsung drive. sorry but could give me a step by step guide please. thank you karl
hi cyprusrom i havnt looked at the link you just posted i will in a minute just wanted to let you know i unpluged the wrr4048 and burnt a disc at 10x and it worked . does that mean when i get the lg dvdrom do i have unplug the pioneer writter plug the lg dvdrom in dump the wii game then unpluge the lg dvdrom and plug the pioneer back in to burn it? ifso its a bit of a pain in the arse but if thats what i have to do then im still happy as i only buy 2 or 3 game a month . thank you for your help. any more help as to get both drivers working togher would be really great. thanks karl
I don't know why it doesn't want to work with a slave, but I've seen it happening before. You have a Samsung and a Fujitsu hard drive. Is one only for storage? You could put the DVD-ROM as a slave with the hard disc that is master if you don't use both HDD.
hi again i just done what it said on that link you posted and both primary and secondery ide channels were set to dma if available. any more info please thanks karl
DMA if available, but what was the current status? Uninstall the drivers anyway, and restart the PC, and let Windows reinstall them.
your to fast with your replys so if i take out the fujitsu hdd and plug the ide cable thats in that hdd to the lg drive it should work? as the fujitsu drive works ok so the lg drive should work am i getting it right? thank karl
Yes,that was what I was thinking, to leave the Pioneer alone as a secondary master, as it seems that is the way it likes it. Can't tell you wahy, not really my piece of cake, but is not the first time I see it. Scroll down to the end of the thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/f87/error-pioneer-dvr-112d-236321/
again your to fast or im just slow primary ide device 0 current transfer mode pio only device 1 ultra dma mode 4 secondary ide device 0 transfer mode pio only current transfer mode ultra dma mode 2 device 1 dma if available current transfer mode not applicable
sorry mate i must be getting on you nerves im so thick. about the 80 or 40 wire ide cable i just counted across the wires and there is 40 is that what you mean ? thanks again karl ok just going to unistaal drivers back soon
:~) LOL, have no worries, if I didn't care to answer, I'd go away. You didn't have to count the wires, they are colour coded:~). The 80 pin has a blue end: The 80 wire gives better data transfer.
lol thank you mine has a black end and red strip down one side. ive just uninstalled the drivers one at a time and no luck the tried uninstalling both at the same time then restarting my pc still no luck. any more info? thanks karl
And you are still in PIO mode? Hmm...It can be done in bios I think, but I don't know the way. I would get a 80 wire cable and try to have both DVD/CD drives on the same cable, see if the Pioneer takes that. http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html
hi again after reading your last post i checked if they were in pio and only the primary ide device 0 was so i changed all four devices to pio only. and now both drives work thank you so much for your help i wish i could do something to help but im so thick lol again thank you karl
