I have tried every way possible to delete the program but one file refuses to go message says unableto delete check to make sure disk is not write protected has anyone got any ideas yours hopefully MMack
it just means the file is in use.restart your pc and try again. If it doesnt work post back there is another method of doing this.
Have already tried rebooting computer it doesnt work, I have also tried uninstalling msn messenger and then trying to uninstall messenger names but again this doesnt work, If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated
i did not try it,but here it is and more downloads BRUTE FORCE UNINSTALLER..........Program to help forcibly remove unwanted software and the likes from a system. BFU is a scripting program that can execute a series of preset commands like a Windows batch file, aimed at uninstalled programs that are hard to remove, uninstall improperly or simply unwanted. Scripts are plaintext and can be written with Notepad, and the command syntax is very transparent. BFU is very complete and powerful, has a small memory footprint and has no uninstaller.....(free).....GO THERE! http://merijn.org/
I have downloaded brute force uninstaller and used it. Program says file executed but it is still there. I have also tried cut and paste, sending it to a floppy disc. It goes to a floppy where it can be deleted but the file still remains in my hard drive as if it is copying itself.
Hi Mmack Thats a ugly peice of malware, tweaks msn messenger settings to advertise its products. To remove it do the following: *Reboot the computer to safe mode (click F8 when Windows start). *Click Start > Run, type 'regedit' to open the Registry Editor. *Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run In the right pane, delete the entry named "IMprocess" which points to "IM-svr.exe" ( if exists). Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WinRAR SFX In the right pane, delete the entry with the value "IM Names". Navigate to and delete the following registry keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IMAdvertiser\AOL HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IMAdvertiser\MSN HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IMAdvertiser\Yahoo *Exit Registry Editor. *Reboot the computer. *Open Windows Explorer, delete the folder "C:\Program Files\IM Names" and all the contents within it. Reboot once its deleted, run something like CCleaners "Issue" scanner to remove dead remains IF there are any. http://www.ccleaner.com/ Finally, run Ewido Micro Scanner 4.5 Download here: http://download.ewido.net/ewido_micro.exe Post the log here and thats it. Good luck!
Success!I didnt really understand the brute force uninstaller, after using it the file as I thought was still active but it wasnt, when using msn the annoying messages didnt appear so I tried deleting instant messenger names and hey presto it was gone. Many thanks to all who have helped yours Mmack
