Well, I finally got a hold of the new Verbatim DVD-R's, (one's that look like old film reels), and burned IceAge using DVD Shrink.

No luck, same results as the Memorex. Only the Sony DVD-R's showed up on the Panansonic home player, so I think it's the player.

    Results:
DVD Encryptor to rip/DVD Shrink to burn:
    Memorex, none.
Sony, played, but pixels show up, screen/audio skip.
    Verbatim, none.

    Using CloneDVD(w/AnyDVD Driver):
Panasonic player claims the DVD is not readible. All brands of media.

Thanks for all the help you guys have given me, I do appreciate it. I will find the cure here someday, even if it means a new home DVD player more compatible with different brands of media.

    Morph416,

Sorry there Buddy, you're not making much sense.
You need to provide all your information -

First, why did you use DVD (I think you mean) Decrypter instead of DVD Shrink and then what did you use after DVD Shrink ??

Then, please explain what you mean by AnyDVD Driver ?

Have you DONE this or are you trying to compile information without doing anything ?

    Pete

I used DVD Decryptor to rip the files to the hard drive. Then used DVD Shrink to burn the compilation to DVD.

AnyDVD, comes from Slysoft, it's a DeCSS driver that runs in the background. When using CloneDVD, it will regard the DVD as "un"encrypted. Otherwise, CloneDVD will not copy CSS encrypted DVD's.

I take it you want me to try and use DVD Shrink to do the entire job? If so, I'll give that a try.

Ok, here's another thing I tried.

Using CloneDVD to burn the files DVD Shrink wrote to it's temp folder.

I got the same results on the home player as I did with the Sony DVD-R's, pixelated screens, and skipping audio. However, the Sony, and the Verbatim playback just fine on the computer, unlike the Memorex which would lock up the drive.

I know now, it's the Panasonic player. I think that it's just not as DVD-R compatible as Panasonic thinks it is.

Well, since the Verbatim disks are $2.00 apiece, I have decided to halt anymore "testing" on this.

I tried the burning process of using Shrink to create the .iso, and Encrypter to burn...got the same results. Movie appears on the player, but it's too pixelated, and it skips.

It has to be the home player, so again, I thank all of you for helping me out.

    Cheers!

    Morph416,

OK - Let's go over these programs and your problems -

First, You are probably creating problems using [bold]Decrypter[/bold] (please write the name down, it's NOT Encrypter it is [bold]Decrypter[/bold]) -

Anyway you should use DVD Shrink to rip, edit (if you wish), compress and backup to your HD - either your VOB files or your ISO files.

NOTE: It is impossible to burn with DVD Shrink - it has no burner.

If you use DVD Shrink and backup to your HD, ISO files then you can use [bold]Decrypter[/bold] to burn ISO files to disc.

If you use DVD Shrink and backup to your HD VOB files in a VIDEO_TS folder, then you can use Nero, RecordNow Max, CloneDVD, CopyToDVD or any of several other burners to burn to disc.

CloneDVD, allows for movie editing and does automatic compression - a rather large program to use simply as a burner.

AnyDVD is a CSS ripper and renders your original DVD encryption free and region free. Yes, it works in the background - it will allow any RF program to be able to process an original DVD. The main difference between AnyDVD and DVD43 is that DVD43 is free, not $40.00.

NOW, your formulas - Should be -

DVD Shrink to HD with VOB's, Then burn with Nero, RecordNow And if you have to CloneDVD to disc.

DVD Shrink to HD with ISO's, Then burn to disc with [bold]Decrypter[/bold] using ISO write mode.

AnyDVD & CloneDVD from DVD to HD to disc.

Using them in their proper combination works well.

NEXT, let's get your media straightened out -

    1. Cheap media, skips, pixelats, freezes, jams partially and many times doesn't play at all.

Cheap media is great for text, Data, Spreadsheets, .Jpg and .Gif pictures and is good even for MP3 music BUT for DVD backups - BLAaaaaaT ! It SUCKTH the "Big One".

    2. Top flight media is needed for DVD reproduction !
Ritek G04's can be purchased from Mertline, online for $ .95ea. to $ 1.05ea.
Verbatim can be purchased from ebay in 30-pak lots for $ 1.00ea. to $ 1.10ea. - just use a program like Auction Sniper to place bids against 30 or 50 different auctions. (Check Auction Sniper out, it stops when you have won your bid and is free for your first 3 auctions)

There is always a way to cut that $2.00 ea down.

Question - If you make coasters out of 3 cheap discs and good copies from 3 Verbatim discs - what then is too expensive ?

Buckle down there Morph416, pay attention, this stuff works if you follow the guides -

    Pete

Now think about the work I've done to help you out - do a little and help yourself :D) It really does work -
