update windows xp with invalid cd key

    I want to download windows service pack on my xp pro laptop but get a message that says my cd key is invalid how can i get around this?

    Please help

    Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:

    javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')

    It turns off the trigger for the key check.

    i tried that and downloaded service pack to but when it came to installing it it came up with the same invalid key message while performin the inventory any other ideas

    that lil trick always worked for me wonder why its not working for you?

    I don't know it'll download but when it runs the program locally it won't complete

    when update brings up the screen that has the custom or express icon, you than type in that line that geestar provided. you have to use that line in the address bar each time you want to do windows update.
