I have a HP dvd300e (dvd300n firmware) which is an oem NEC 1100a. While no firmware is available for a Hp drive, their is heaps for the NEC

Q1-Iv searched http://www.rpc1.org and others but cant find the firmware specifically for my drive. Does anyone know what it is??

Q2-After reading through it states that to upgrade to hacked firmware it must be done in DOS mode, cept I cant find my USB drive. Has anyone attempted a USB upgrade without removing drive from casing??

Q3-Relates to the above, really need to know the switches needed as the burner is not on -pri or -sec what would i use??

My system at the moment has Primary Master=Boot hard drive c:/ and g:/, Primary Slave=Second Harddrive d:/ e:/ f:/, Second Master=CDRW h:/, Second Slave=DVDRW DRU-510AK i:/, with the USB DVD300n being j:/. Have read that the drive to be flashed should be g:/, i can chang j:/ to g:/ by changing USB port

    Any help much appreciated

Hi Deadcat, USB flashes are sometimes a problem. With all the extra optical drives you have on the system it is even more trouble. I would try to unplug all the extra drives(DVD, CDR) for the time it takes you to try the flash again. This way the only dvd drive on the system will be your USB drive. If that doesn't work, I have read the only other way is to temp install the drive internally for the flash. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Figured as much. I think there are windows installers available, but dont know if they will allow the "changing" of the drive manufacture from HP to NEC. Still waiting on www.herrie.org to get back on line for a download. www.rpc1.org has the firmware, but doesnt say if it is specifically for the Hp OEM.

Oh well, got myself a Aopen combo drive in the meantime (only wanted unlocked rip speed). Getting 12x rip now
