Dumb question, to upgrade to a SSD drive do you just remove the existing HD and replace it with the SSD? I know the bios probably be reset for the replacement. Went on Google and am still not 100% clear, needed some expert advice. T.I.A.

No need to remove the HD just install the SSD in the computer.
There are several ways to install the operating system. 1. boot your windows cd and do a clean install on the SSD then go into BIOS and set it to boot from the SSD. You can then set it to use the data and library's on the HD.. With a little moving around you can delete the OS from the HD and just use it for the data files.. or 2. If the SSD is large enough to hold your libraries you can clone your HD to the SSD with a program like Acronis or AOMEI then set the bios to boot from the ssd.

Keep in mind leaving the old drive in without wiping it will mean the old OS will be detected when you install the new OS to the new drive & give you a dual boot option. If you have no need to dual boot but have some data on the old drive you want to keep (contacts, pictures etc),it would be better imo to leave the old hdd disconnected until the ssd is up & running.Reason i say this is you may accidentally wipe or overwrite the old Operating system wiping any data off it,unless you know which drive when looking at the partitioning options is the drive you want windows installed to
