I have a softmodded xbox with the stock hd. I have a 120gb harddrive that I want to upgrade it to. I know how to ftp and most of that stuff but my question is, if I take ALL the files from my orignal xbox's harddrive that is softmodded and put it on a new blank harddrive and lock it , will my xbox read it ? , Thanks

Its not as simple as just FTPing all the files to a new HDD. Below is a guide on how to upgrade your Xbox HDD to your 120GB HDD you want to put in and replace the old Xbox HDD.

You will have to get on Xbins to download the necisery programs to do this. So below is a guide on how to get onto Xbins if you need help doing so.

If you follow the directions on the other site you shouldnt have any trouble. I upgraded 3 Xboxes (80GB, 120GB, upgraded mine to a 300GB) with that guide and they all worked.

Ok thanks, I have a question, when I do this will my evox dashboard show up or will the orignal microsoft dash show up, and do you have to lock the hd when you do it because last time on my 8gb hd I didn't lock it so maybe that was the problem , and one more thing , does the hd need to be blank ?

It would be best to format the hard drive so its blank before you start.

Yes you need to lock the harddrive. If you would have read the Guide on the other page you would have gotten your answer.
