Upgrade

    Am just not happy with my current set up.

    I got a new hdd a new graphics card

    what i want is a new cpu and some ram!

    any suggestions

    can 1g ram work in conjunction with my 256 ram
    My current ram is 256 ddr sdram pc3200

    does the new ram i buy have to be pc3200 aswell

    and what processor should i get that will work with my current mobo and and am looking at only spending £150


    I got a job yesterday and 50% of money will go on my comp

    Well for new ram you'll prolly want to take advantage of Dual Channel = if you want to use the 256 then the most you'll have is 512MB ... prolly not what you had in mind. I'd recocmend you get completely new RAM. Corsair PC3200 and PC3500 can be had for a nice price.

    As for CPU .... if you want to take the leap, grab an A64 :) Of course you'll need to buy a new mobo for that. But since you want to use your current mobo, the most id realistically upgrade to is the AthlonXP-2500 and OC it to XP3200+ or more. Just make sure to get a cooler on it.

    You should be able to get the CPU, cooler and RAM for that price range :)

    If the mobo has enough slots. Of course you'll be sacrificing the dual channel support and really, after 1GB ... 256MB isnt gonna do anything for the system
