I just ordered a new Acer laptop with 160 GB on the hard drive. I was thinking about installing a new 500 GB hard drive on it, but was wondering about installing Windows Vista twice. If I install Vista on the original hard drive with the software that comes with it, I can still re-install Vista on the new hard drive if I decide to upgrade it? Also, could I simply clone the hard drives? Thanks for the help.

clone the drive as would be easier as long as no corruption on the 160gig.

If you're like a lot of people who need large storage that they don't often use it would cost a lot less to buy an external 3.5" hard drive. If you happen to be one of those people it's something to think about.

As for cloning I'm not sure how that would work with a laptop as you can't have both drives plugged in at the same time. Would an image of a clean XP install fit on a DVD?
