My computer has Windows 98 installed and a friend picked up a Windows 98 SE disk for me. But on the disk it states that this disk is for computers without Windows. My question is if it's safe to use this disk. I have a lot of important stuff stored on my computer and I don't want to lose it.

    - sounds like a FULL install CD as opposed to an upgrade CD. Either way you can install over the top of your existing install and it'll keep all your existing files/settings. However hard discs don't last forever and give up the ghost eventually so you'd be better off genning up on what's involved in protecting your files in case of a disaster

very true...if your computer has the original windows 98 on it, then your computer is obviously well over 7+ years old, which is pretty ancient as far as hard drive life is conscerned. you defintealy should look into saving your data on a more secure medium like CDR or newer hard drive.
