I was just wondering if it is possible to format and re-install windows on a compaq presario. (Will update thread with make and model in a few hours) If so, is it the same as doing it on a desktop? I have the windows cd and all. I also have to have it done by saturday. Thanks for the support, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
That's what I thought, It's just in the back of my mind I remembered some best buy or something saying it's wasn't possible... Thanks for the answer. One more thing, How do I find out what drivers I need for it? Thanks.
hahaha.....The Geek Squad? Please.... a lappy is no different then any other machine. For the drivers, you just have to know what hardware the laptop has installed. Chipset, video, sound, NIC...etc.
Can you please tell me which drivers I need for this Laptop? If the comp had xp preinstalled just check in "my computer" for a snmall 5-6gb FAT 32 partition if there is one push and hold F10? on startup ,it should start the recovery console options (or check the manual),all hp's have them inc desktops There should also be an option to make recovery disks in the programs list under either pc help and tools,or hp there is also the option to download the reinstall software from microsoft to floppy or cd,this is not xp as you'd get from a shop it's a specific software for your comp and puts it back to factory shipped cond
