I'm not sure if this the correct place for me to ask this exactly, but I'm hoping I will still be able to get help on my problem. If this should go to in another forum, please tell me so I won't trouble any of you any longer.. Well I have a Windows XP and some number months ago received a Digital Video Camcorder. It's called a Pocket DV 3100. Before I would simply take pictures and connect it to the computer using a USB cable to download my pictures on to my computer. Now I keep receiving this messages when I connect it. [Example 1:] http://img292.echo.cx/img292/2033/usbproblemmessage6ms.png [Example 2:] http://img292.echo.cx/img292/2741/usbproblemmessage28zz.png I don't understand what this means exactly. I know I don't need to install anything, I never did before to download my pictures on to my computer, and the manual itself tells me I don't need to install anything. What can I do to fix this problem?
it is trying to draw more power thru the usb port than is allowed. either use battery or external adapter power. the usb port cannot power a camcorder or some other external devices without external power
The camcorder did not come with an AC adapter/external adapter power so I can't use anything like that, and the batteries are new. It still gives me the same message.
should have come with either a power cord or an adapter if camcorder is new. are you plugging camcorder usb cord into a usb hub or into a usb port on computer?

is there any exclamation marks or question marks in device manager when the camera is not plugged in??
The window popped up on its own when I connected the USB and I received the message at the bottom right side of my desktop (First example). I'm afraid I don't know how to get to my Device Manager without plugging in the USB cable first. How do I get to it? Sorry for bothering you so much.
goto start, control panel than system. in system click device manager & check for exclamation marks or question marks

Not quite sure what you mean by that exactly (Again my apologiez for being so dumb in these things), but the Camera is not connected and neither is anything installed for the Camera...
I have the DV4500 camera and I never had this problem. I just plugged the usb cable into my camera then into my computer. And that was it, no installing drivers or anything. I have the installation CD in case I need to install it, so I don't need the link (But thank you otherwise for providing it). I don't need to install it, I've never had to before. Like you said, I before would simply plug it in and that was all. I just now receive this problem error.
Since the USB cord came with the camera and I dont have another one that can fit into the camera's USB port, no I haven't. I did try different USB ports and encountered the same problem. I fear that the USB ports themselves are somewhat damaged.
Try disabling all of your USB hub ports except for one of them in the Device Manager and then plug camera into the one that is still enabled.
I disabled the ports and kept one enabled, then tried to see if that would work by plugging in the camera USB. Nothing happened. After doing that, I enabled all of them again and tried to plug it in one more time, and now it works. Thank you very much for helping me with my problem, I truly appreciate it.
