I have a weird bug. When ever I plug in a USB storage device like a USB flash key or a usb external HDD window won't as me which action to take anymore like it used to, even with a new device that hasn't been used before and plugged in the first time. It used to do that where I can select to open wiht program of open in folder. Now when i plug my usb devices in i just hear the sound ting and then nothing pop up. but if i click on my My computer the device is ther and working normally. I'm using windows xp professional sp2 (on my laptop) and windows xp media center 2004(on my desktop) and I'm taking about USB 2.0 devices. can someone help me resolve this problem please.
Try this... [bold]How To Enable/Disable Autorun (Windows XP)[/bold] Open Windows Explorer by right clicking Start and hit Explore. Right-click the desired object (in your case the flash drive..) and select Properties from the menu. Select the AutoPlay tab. Select each item from the pulldown list and for the Action to perform, select "Take no action" to disable autorun, or pick the apporpriate action to take if enabling autorun. Select OK. Did this help?
