why don't ye get thunderbird and see if hotmail will work with it.. and while ye are there get firefox as most of us are using it instead of ie.. here is the download page http://www.mozilla.com/products/ p/s i do not know if hot mail will work with outlook..
Yes, Hotmail works with Outlook Express. My wife uses a hotmail account. So when I click the send and receive button it checks my email and my wifes email all at once. Or you can check them separately. In order to setup the Hotmail on OE click the Tools button. Then click the Accounts ... button. This will bring up the dialog box you are looking for to set yourself up. It's pretty much straight forward. You need to have already setup your Hotmail account. Just follow the prompts.
i know how to set it up. its that i made a new email address and hotmail block access via outlook. so i thought you guys mights know a hack or something to get me round it
I've tried and MSN responded that the free Hotmail wouldn't go with Outlook express along with my main acc't. Waitin to see what others come up with. Chris
IM1 thats why i ask ye to try thunderbird,as i knew there was a conflict with outlook and hotmail..i just could not remember what it was. it was a long time ago i had a hot mail account i did not like it.. for the same reason you have..so i dumped hotmail....
I've just pasted the following from the hotmail help menu: My apologies for misinforming you above; msn is part of my verizon package so I can use it in outlook.
gerry1 years ago i had verizon dsl package..i would not use msn..{junk} it was for me the worse service..the speed would go down to 44kbps from a high of 1500kbps.. now i am up to 6473kbps using comcast. check here,Speakeasy Speed Test in usa... http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
That is so true, Ireland. I will try the speedtest when I get home. I've been thinking of switching to comcast when my verizon contract is up (Nov, I think). Sometimes it does slow way down but I'm better off than some others I know... perhaps because verizon controls the phone lines, I'm not sure, but I live in the center city business district which always gets special treatment from the city as well as utility companies far moreso than the rest of the city. Despite that, I still do get some frustrating slowdowns with regularity. Comcast is building their new headquaters tower a couple of blocks from my house so maybe it will work really good?...and my boss is all pissed off because our main office is directly across the street from the new comcast tower; he had the office with the view but the new tower is now going up right across the street and will obstruct his scenery. I told him that my heart bleeds lol!
because of the slows speeds i was getting with there dsl i was able to get out of there contract,as they could not fix it..
