It sickens and disgusts me to see the amount of Foul language creeping into some threads of late.
I know there is a Report an offensive Post facility available but its disappointing to see nothing done when it's reported. I dont believe that the Mods should also police this as it's only common courtesy NOT to swear. I suggest that the repeat offenders think before they post or even BETTER still do NOT reply to the thread until the foul language has been edited by the poster.
If everyone adopts this option by asking poster to edit before giving any assistance it might clean things up a bit and take strain off the Mods.

I think the mods do a very good job of keeping the forums clean. everytime I use the report button whether its for spam, language, or other issues, its usually answered by a mod withing a couple hours

I think we're capable of handling a couple of semi-foul words, we're all big boys and girls now ;)

I am NOT criticising the mods, they do a fine job and have a lot to do it's the ones who are using the bad language that I am directing this towards.
If others support me by NOT replying then maybe they MIGHT get the message.
I have warned someone about bad language and then someone comes along and answers his queerie like as if bad language is OK
@ragnarok, that's what I would expect from you. Children also use AD forums.

yes but this site is geared towards all ages, thats why foul language is avoided. I myself use curse words, but not here because its not appropriate...we have members as young as eleven.

best thing to do is post that rule to them so they get the point..and ask them to edit there post.
if they did not edit report them.

    rule
    6. No foul language, insults, personal attacks or otherwise rude messages.

It's not like we are using words like Fu*k B*tch or a$$. For some reason I believe that 11 year olds can handle words like "dammit". No one here uses anything more severe than that. If someone does (ChuckFu*k anyone?) our mods rappel down on them and their history.

usaing a bit of foul language here and there doesnt make much different its just a way to express feeling but i agree people shouldnt swear every post they make.they can't banned everyone for a odd swear word here and there but people that swear every post should be banned i agree.

@Ireland, it took only a few minutes for you to ask me to edit my post which I have done, however hours after reporting the offending thread NOTHING has been done about it.

xboxdevil2, having been banned in the past you should know better. Swearing is NOT appropriate so DON"T condone it, swear at your dog if you have to but leave it out of the forums.

The sad thing is is that the offensive language is coming from persons at almost all levels of the hierarchy here at AD so where does that leave us. And though this particular forum has it's fair share I could be wrong but if you venture in the console forums it's at a whole different level. I mean it might be abbreviated but the connotation is still the same. I sometimes try to PM people before hitting the offensive post button button but I have come to realize that I do so at my own peril as you'd be surprised at the responses sometimes. By and large thankfully the responses are favourable. Gwen I completely endorse what you have said but the Mods cannot be held solely accountable. Until there is a concerted effort by [bold]all of us[/bold] or at least more on the part of [bold]those of us[/bold] that are vigilant about his sort of thing, it is not going to get any better. I've only been here a couple of months and already I'm genuinely concerned about the longitivity of this site and the direction that it is heading in. Personally I am prepared to make a sacrifice if needs be, in order to advance this site. By that I mean if the Admins see the need for the implimentation of more stringent measures, even for a while, then so be it.

    @Ireland
Get him/her to ppppppppppppooooooooossssssssttttttttttt something :)

Sorry about that Ireland, but the guy who actually posted it does deserve to get banned(dunno if he is or not, hopefully he is). Thats the most extreme language I've seen here on AfterDawn

@Ragnarok, I know you deal mainly in a different field than I do, I know it's used in the PS2 forums etc but when it comes to what has been posted thats way over the top and I think the offending threads should NOT be answered.
Point them to the rules but dont assist them

The mods do a fine job, do you know how much bull (like me) they have to put up with?

Yeah I didnt know posts have gotten this bad here on AfterDawn. I don't see anything like that in the PC Hardware forums. But yes, people should definitely not respond to posts like that, instead they should get a PM explaining them why they won't be getting a response.

im not condoning excessive use of swear words im saying a few doesnt harm the site but an excessive number does.gwendolin get your facts right b4 you jump down my throat.yes i have been baned once and it wasnt for excessive swearing.so what if i have been banned thats none of your business.the mods have forgiven me and let me back under another name so there no need to bring it up.
