I bought a used XBox 360. After trying to go on live, it gave me the codes stating that the Xbox was modded.

I sent it away to have all the mods/flashed disk drives removed and any illegal content removed.

When it was returned I tried accessing XBox Live again, but received the same message.

I've read somewhere that Microsoft only ban the Hard drive that was used with the modded console.

If that is the case and my Xbox has been cleaned of any mods. If I purchased a new hard drive, would it mean I'll be able to access XBox Live?

Makes me wish I'd just bought a new one now!

Cheers for any information on this.

Well you read wrong... they ban the xbox by serial number which is hard coded into the electronics of the 360 (and before you ask.. it isn't the dvd key)

Unfortunately you get what you pay for.. It was sold because it was banned.
