using dvd-r

    I wasn't really sure about this question so can someone please help. Can you put data onto a dvd-r disc using a cd-r burner

    No. You can not. You need a DVD-R writer in order to write dvd-r media.

    Should ever want to backup a DVD, of course you'd need a DVD-ROM to play the movie in the first place, you can use your CD Burner to make a Mini-DVD that will work in the vast majority of standalone players -
